President Obama speaks at the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington Let Freedom Ring Rally.

“Dr. King’s dream of jobs, justice and equality is as inspiring and relevant today as it was 50 years ago. The cause of freedom is still ringing across our nation and the world,” said Rea Carey, Task Force Executive Director, who attended the ceremony today.

“We can’t have freedom when lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people can be fired for who they are and who they love. Congress must pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). Nor can we have a free and fair democracy when the Voting Right Act remains gutted by the Supreme Court. Again, Congress must act. And let freedom ring for the 11 million undocumented immigrants: Congress must pass comprehensive and inclusive immigration reform.”
