Protect LGBT students from bullying and harassment!
Do you want to make sure that all students can learn in a safe space? The Student Non-Discrimination Act (SNDA) will extend protections to LGBT youth and prohibit discrimination in public schools.
Tell your senators to support SNDA and protect LGBT students today!
As many as 9 out of 10 lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students have been bullied, according to the 2009 National School Climate Survey. And recent findings from the National Transgender Discrimination Survey revealed that kids who show any kind of gender non comformity reported alarming rates of harassment, physical assault and even sexual violence.
When kids don’t feel safe in school it can lead to increased absenteeism, dropout rates, academic underachievement and can even have adverse health consequences – and that includes mental health.
SNDA builds on existing protections for students, and will finally give LGBT students and their families the opportunity to take legal action against discrimination.
Please contact your senators NOW and tell them to pass legislation to protect LGBT students.
