Marking the 41st Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

Rea Carey, Executive Director, National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Action Fund:

Today, as we mark the 41st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, it’s important to note that there remains a well-funded and well-organized opposition to women’s access to comprehensive and affordable reproductive health care including abortion. They represent the same forces that want to control what we, as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, do with our bodies and our access to health care. They want to turn back the clock, block progress and use tired arguments to justify the erosion of rights and discrimination. Together, we must continue the fight to protect, preserve and advance freedoms and to resist any attempt to deny the rights and the reality of our lives.
