Virtual Creating Change Rescheduled for March 19-20, 2022

“Creating Change Remixed” Program Details, State of the Movement, Keynotes and Institutes Announced

Creating Change Remixed: Virtual Creating Change March 19 - 20

The National LGBTQ Task Force’s Creating Change conference, which was recently changed to a virtual format due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, will now be held March 19-20, 2022.

Over the March conference weekend, “Creating Change Remixed” will feature several plenary and keynote speakers, award presentations, daylong institutes, and the annual House Ball. In lieu of the customary workshops and caucuses being part of the conference programming, the Task Force will host a series of virtual events in 2022 under a new banner of “Creating Change 365.” The Task Force welcomes back Sandra Valls as conference emcee.

Happening March 19-20 will be the following programs:

  • Day-Long Institutes
  • The Annual State of the Movement Address with Task Force Executive Director Kierra Johnson and Deputy Executive Director, Mayra Hidalgo Salazar. As we gear up for the 2022 midterm elections, Task Force leaders will focus on the opportunities ahead and lay out what at stake for our democracy.
  • Featured Keynotes by Two Spirit activist Beverly Little Thunder and  author and performance artist ALOK

In addition, there will be the traditional presentation of awards. This year we are honoring:

  • Susan J. Hyde Award for Longevity in the Movement, sponsored by Wild Geese Foundation: Urvashi Vaid
  • Carmen Vázquez Leadership Award in Aging presented by SAGE: José Albino
  • Evelyn & Walter Haas Jr. Fund Award for Outstanding LGBTQ Leadership for Immigration Rights: Ola Osifo Osaze
  • Leather Leadership Award: Billy Lane

Finally, there will be an Interfaith Service and the annual Agents of Change Masquerade Ball.
