Creating Change Conference Pivots to Virtual Event
The 34th annual Creating Change conference, slated for January 12-16 at the Hilton Riverside in New Orleans, will now be held virtually. The virtual conference will not be held on the original dates. It will now be held March 19 & 20, 2022.
“While disappointing, we must put the health and wellness of our attendees, volunteers, staff, and other conference supporters first and have decided to move forward with a virtual-only conference,” said Kierra Johnson, Executive Director, National LGBTQ Task Force. “Despite the strict protocols we instituted, given the surge of the Omicron variant cases, we feel the safest and most responsible decision is to gather virtually as we did in January 2021,” continued Johnson. “We know that Creating Change is a unique and empowering experience for our community and everyone who attends brings so much love and passion to the conference but our responsibility first and foremost is caring for each other,” concluded Johnson.
“We will announce what programming will look like for Creating Change 2022 and beyond as soon as possible,” said Danny Linden, Creating Change Conference Director. “We are grateful to all of the attendees, participants, and sponsors for their understanding as we transition to a virtual experience and the opportunity to bring Creating Change to an even larger audience,” concluded Linden.
As the foremost political, leadership, and skills-building conference for the LGBTQ movement, Creating Change will return for an in-person gathering early next year.
For 34 years, the National LGBTQ Task Force has brought you Creating Change, the largest LGBTQ activist conference in the country. Every year, thousands of people from across the country come together to learn, connect, and resist. At Creating Change we sharpen our minds with skills and knowledge, fill our hearts with love and joy, and deepen our commitment to freedom, justice and equity for all LGBTQ people. Creating Change 2022 will be no different!
Given the surge of the Omicron variant cases, we feel the safest and most responsible decision is to gather virtually for Creating Change 2022—more information and scheduling updates forthcoming.
