Congratulations to all of the hard-working activists and movement leaders of Kentucky for defeating every one of the anti-LGBTQ bills this legislative session!

We’re bringing Creating Change to Louisville, Kentucky, January 27–31, 2027

We don’t choose our host cities lightly. Each year, we gather where the work is urgent, our presence can be additive, and our movement has something to learn. Several of us just returned from Louisville, where we met with local organizers, nonprofit leaders, business owners, media partners, and attended the Fairness Campaign’s annual dinner. What we witnessed was coordination, discipline, and a culture of intersectional and interdependent organizing that runs generations deep.

The Commonwealth of Kentucky is a place where LGBTQ people make up a larger percentage of the population than in states like California, and public support for nondiscrimination protections rivals states like New York. It’s also home to some of the earliest nondiscrimination ordinances in the country, and a Fairness movement that has expanded protections city by city through sustained, strategic organizing.

Across Kentucky, community organizers, advocates, and activists have built durable infrastructure while navigating escalating state-level attacks, particularly targeting trans communities. Kentuckians know how to operate inside constraints, defend local gains, advance policy where possible, litigate strategically, and build coalitions that hold under pressure.

Kentucky’s leadership is visible in organizations like the Fairness Campaign, which has led the expansion of local nondiscrimination ordinances; the ACLU of Kentucky, advancing litigation and policy defense; Kentucky Health Justice Network, organizing at the intersections of bodily autonomy and economic justice; Sweet Evening Breeze, preserving Black LGBTQ history while building intergenerational power; and QTBIPOC-led, youth-led and trans-led grassroots organizers that continue to build power despite targeted attacks.

This is why we are bringing Creating Change to Louisville.

Our team is already working closely with partners across Kentucky to map the landscape, shape the curriculum, and build the kind of programming and engagement spaces that reflect the depth of organizing happening on the ground. You can stay engaged with us in that process.

Ways to engage:

Save these important Creating Change Dates:

  • Call for Proposals: June 15 – September 15, 2026
  • Registration & Host Hotel Booking Opens: July 15. 2026
  • CC27 Reception: August 25, 2026 (Louisville, Kentucky)
  • Creating Change: January 27-31, 2027

Creating Change is how we build a tighter, more connected, more effective movement. Each city we connect with over the years sharpens our strategy, strengthens our relationships, and expands what’s possible when we return home.

In the year to come, the conditions are clear, the work is urgent, and we meet the moment together. Together, we are Creating Change.

See you in Louisville!
