Washington, DC, April 15, 2018: On the passing of LGBTQ Leader David Buckel, National LGBTQ Task Force Executive Director Rea Carey said:
“I’m deeply sad with the news of David’s death. In the 1990’s when our movement was just beginning to more fully address the needs of LGBTQ youth, David’s legal work was critical in supporting and fighting for the safety and rights of young people, including trans young people like Brandon Teena. His work on marriage put down the critical paving stones for the road to full marriage equality. I was always inspired with David’s ability to compel the courts to honor our lives and humanity. We would not be where we are without his passion and determination.”
