Tahil Sharma

Faith Director

He/they

Los Angeles, CA

Tahil Sharma for over 10 years, Tahil (he/they) has been dedicated to the work of interfaith cooperation and social justice. Born to a SIkh mother and a Hindu father, Tahil’s inter-religious upbringing in Los Angeles influenced his willingness to connect with people across differences and inspired him to engage in the work of storytelling and bridge-building. Following the mass shooting at the Gurdwara in Oak Creek, WI in 2012, Tahil re-shaped this understanding of interfaith cooperation as a lens for justice and equity. Since then, Tahil has been involved in efforts for literacy as well as advocacy in local, regional, and international capacities. That’s why he remains active in various spaces not only to represent his traditions, but to also change the ways people think about the intersection of religion and spirituality with the rest of our identities.

While the work he does is super serious, his general attitude is anything but serious which is why he often comes off as lost or confused. Tahil can most often be found at a coffee shop, where you will find him with his laptop, an iced mocha, and a friend or two nearby. He enjoys talking about religion and spirituality but won’t hesitate to talk to you about any other subject that really comes to mind. He enjoys going to the beach or to a nearby park for a walk but may take various breaks to pet a dog that’s found along the path. He’s an occasional stress baker, a new podcaster, and a language learner who loves to explore cultures and grassroots movement in other cultural and religious contexts.
