NATIONAL LGBTQ TASK FORCE RESPONSE TO TRUMP ADMINISTRATION
RESCINDING OF TITLE IX, IMPACTING RIGHTS OF ALL STUDENTS

The following can be attributed to Allen Morris, Policy Director, National LGBTQ Task Force:
“Rescinding protections for students during a time when campus assaults, discrimination, and other forms of harm are on the rise accomplishes one thing for the Trump administration: now ALL students are less safe in schools. Title IX protections were created to ensure anyone suffering harassment, discrimination, or were a survivor not only had resources, but safeguards were present to ensure institutions were held accountable.
This is more than an LGBTQ issue or a twisted attack on transgender students; this weakens protections for women and girls who experience sex discrimination or sexual harassment. Our trans youth have continued to be used as political pawns, whether through policies like this or fear mongering political ads as we approach the midterm elections.
This is a reminder that decisions made in Washington, D.C. directly shape many facets of our lives; affordability, healthcare, education, and the overall treatment of our children. We hope voters are keeping tabs and are making their plans to show up at the ballot box in November.”
