We continue to see unprecedented and relentless attacks on bodily autonomy, gender-affirming care, and immigration.
The basic building blocks of democracy are our right to vote and expectation of free and fair elections.
It is not an understatement to fear for our democracy and basic human rights. Harnessing the power of our votes is more important than ever. Impeding our right to vote or using tactics such as gerrymandering are meant to further disenfranchise and discourage voters from knowing their power at the ballot box.
The larger issues at stake impact all of us and speak to a more expansive vision for queer liberation. That means securing and strengthening a democracy that includes and works for all of us, a functional and fair economy, and creating a culture of care that nurtures and protects us. And joy. And power. Always queer joy. Always queer power.

Why Now?
The actions of the current administration for the next two years will determine what this country faces for a generation. The Task Force has been prioritizing our work in some of the most impacted states, engaging with key constituents from Florida and Texas through phone banking and partnering with the organizations on the ground to hold the line.
We must mobilize LGBTQ+ voters and our allies to help elect LGBTQ+ affirming local and national elected officials and ensure incumbents understand where our community’s priorities lie. There are too many elections where the margins are slim and the differences between the candidates on how they see our communities is vast – it is no exaggeration to say that lives are at stake, especially for our trans siblings, people of color, immigrants and other marginalized communities.
We know what our best weapon is – our votes. Our votes are powerful, even when up against the tremendous efforts working to suppress and divide us. Our opposition would not be working so hard or spending millions if they thought we did not havepower.
And we also know this: mobilization efforts like door knocking and phone banking have been shown to increase voter turnout by 4%. That’s enough to swing entire elections.
The Power of LGBTQ+ Voters
LGBTQ+ voters have the power to change the outcome of elections completely. The Task Force will continue to stay engaged with our partners and targets through various political campaigns to foster the expansion of our movement, one focus during our Get Out the Vote work is to engage the most marginalized and the most engaged from our democracy. Through this distinct work engaging all our communities, we believe we can build a democracy that works for us as LGBTQ+ people and not against us. Accessibility, inclusivity, and an equitable society are non-negotiable. The ballot box is one way to achieve this.
