Power Summits
At a Milwaukee Power Summit, participants raised nearly $75,000 in two hours of phone banking. (Okay, technically it was only an hour and 50 minutes.)
When communities are under attack, leaders need to know how to launch strategic, large-scale election campaigns so we can fight back effectively and win. We need teams of people willing to step up to the plate. That's the only way to out-organize the opposition and build the power needed to end these discriminatory ballot measures.
Don’t just talk about it. Do it.
The Power Summit is an intensive three-day training and action program for people who are highly motivated to build powerful state and local campaigns, organizations and coalitions aimed at creating positive community change.
What will I learn?
Power Summits focus on cutting-edge skills and strategies necessary for developing a strong campaign to win at the ballot box and in the legislature.
Grassroots skills covered include phonebanking, canvassing, volunteer recruitment and fundraising, helping us support and sustain local political or social campaigns that move our communities forward.
Field track
- Build a large-scale volunteer program to campaign with voters person-to-person
- Recruit a large team of volunteers that represents the full diversity of our communities
- Develop volunteer leaders to help manage and grow your field campaign
- Create effective and persuasive messages for use in all parts of your campaign, especially with voters face-to-face at the door
- Successfully challenge our opponents’ use of race and faith to divide our communities
- Build progressive alliances and action-oriented coalitions across race, class, gender and faith
Fundraising track
- Build a powerful fundraising campaign through major donor asks, house parties and grassroots fundraising initiatives
- Ask others for money one-on-one, face-to-face, and over the phone
- Build and motivate a diverse team of volunteer fundraisers to grow your fundraising capacity
Advanced field & fundraising tracks
- For leaders who have extensive experience in either fundraising or the field, we offer advanced sessions designed to further hone these skills in the context of LGBT ballot measure campaigns
How long are the trainings?
2–3 days.
