Task Force organizers bolster equality efforts in Nevada

The Task Force Academy for Leadership in Action recently sent three organizers to Nevada to support AB211, which would prohibit discriminatory employment practices based upon gender identity or expression.

They provided training and support to the Las Vegas-based staff of the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada (PLAN) to strategize around field efforts, grow their team of activists, and increase volunteer leadership. The partnership resulted in a successful volunteer leadership meeting attended by 15 transgender leaders and allies, and boosted their phone banks from five to more than 30 volunteers.

AB211 is scheduled for a committee hearing this month, and PLAN will be working with other allies on the ground to push for the measure’s passage.
