White House names liaison to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community
The White House today named Gautam Raghavan as its new LGBT liaison in the Office of Public Engagement (OPE). He replaces Brian Bond, who left to become the Democratic National Committee’s director of constituency outreach. Raghavan is currently serving as White House liaison at the Department of Defense and previously worked for the Democratic National Committee as Midwest finance director and director of the Indo-American Leadership Council.
National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Executive Rea Carey states:
Congratulations to Gautam Raghavan in being named the White House’s new LGBT liaison. We look forward to working with him as he provides counsel to President Obama on issues important to the lives and livelihoods of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and our families. The liaison is the voice of our community to the whole administration. The White House should continue building upon the foundation created by Brian Bond and the community to ensure our issues and concerns are heard and addressed at the highest levels of government.
