We all deserve fair pay: Take action today

U.S. Capitol DomeDid you know that across the country, women still receive far less pay than their male counterparts (about 77 cents on the dollar)? As LGBT people and straight allies, we know that all forms of discrimination are wrong — and pay inequity is no exception. The Paycheck Fairness Act is a bill that closes loopholes in current law and contains provisions designed to prevent pay discrimination. The Task Force has been working in coalition on this legislation, pay equity is a critical issue for us. We previously worked for the passage of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and Paycheck Fairness is the next step towards equal pay. The Paycheck Fairness Act is one of the first bills that the Senate will vote on in the lame duck session.

Please call your senators and tell them to support this bill — call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at 202.224.3121 or click here for a list of senators. It’s time to tell our political leaders to end “shortchanging” women’s livelihoods!

You can also petition key senators via Twitter, below is a sample tweet for Sens Collins, Snowe and Brown:
