This August – action is hot!
Congress is leaving Washington and returning to their home states for the August recess. But we can’t afford to take a recess – we need to turn up the heat in the fight for LGBT equality!
Now is the perfect time to take advantage of your senators being back home. You can call and visit, and even attend Town Hall meetings. We all know damn well that the Tea Party will be there in full force. If you can’t get to a Town Hall meeting, then call 866.584.1021 to be directly routed to your senator’s district office. It’s time to do everything you can to make our voices heard.
The Task Force has been working non-stop to educate members of Congress on the importance of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) to the LGBT community and our nation as a whole. Including holding a congressional briefing on the results of our National Transgender Discrimination Survey. But we need your help to get the message across to your legislators. It’s critical that this legislation covers both sexual orientation and gender identity.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people face discrimination on the job. We’re still fired, denied promotions and harassed, just for being who we are. This discrimination has been well documented, most recently by our National Transgender Discrimination Survey. One of the sad facts in this report is that 26% of transgender people lost a job just because they’re transgender.
This is your chance to take a local action that has a national impact — contact your senators while they’re home during August and urge them to co-sponsor the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). Please call 866.584.1021 today!
