Tell Congress: Hands Off Social Security! National Call-In Day is Tuesday, Nov. 30

Many LGBT seniors are more reliant on the full promised benefits from Social Security, as we are less economically secure as we age. We want the message from our community to be heard loud and clear to our elected officials: Don’t cut Social Security!

On Tuesday, Nov. 30, please participate in the “National Call Congress Day” by dialing 1.866.529.7630 and telling your senators to SAY NO to cutting Social Security.

The co-chairs of the National Fiscal Commission have proposed deep cuts to Social Security, including slashing benefits for middle-class workers, reducing annual cost of living adjustments, and increasing the retirement age to 69.

We need your help to stop them!

Social Security is a promise that must not be broken— we’ve worked hard for it and paid taxes for it. Social Security belongs to our children, our parents, our neighbors and ourselves.

Cuts to Social Security benefits are not necessary to make the program solvent for the next 75 years as required by law. As of today, it is good for more than three decades.  Cutting Social Security benefits will harm LGBT people as we age.

Your voice needs to be heard.

Please call your senators at 1.866.529.7630. After providing your zip code, you’ll be given a choice of which of your state’s two senators to be connected with. Call both if you have the time. It only takes a minute each.

Tell the person who answers the phone:

I am a voter/constituent living in [your state]. I am calling to tell the senator — NO TO SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFIT CUTS! HANDS OFF SOCIAL SECURITY.

Cutting Social Security benefits will harm LGBT people as we age. Please join others by making a couple of quick calls during Tuesday’s “National Call Congress Day.”

Thanks for making a difference.
