Task Forceâs Russell Roybal Receives the Harvey Milk Award at the Nicky Awards in San Diego
Russell Roybal, the Task Force’s deputy executive director for external affairs, received the Harvey Milk Award this past weekend at the Nicky Awards, celebrated in San Diego, California.
“We are very proud of Russell. He inspires us and the movement,” said Rea Carey, executive director of the Task Force. “This award is a testament to his many years of dedicated work to create positive change for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. We celebrate with him this tremendous honor.”
The Nicky Awards, one of the west coast’s oldest LGBT community awards, were established in 1974 by longtime LGBT activist and San Diego City Commissioner Nicole Ramirez. Since the 1970s, the award show has raised thousands of dollars for numerous LGBT causes, while honoring those who contribute to LGBT equality.
