National LGBTQ Task Force Welcomes Appointment of Vanita Gupta to Lead the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division

WASHINGTON, DC, Oct. 16, 2014 — The National LGBTQ Task Force is praising the announcement that civil rights attorney, Vanita Gupta, was appointed as Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Acting Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Justice Department.

“Congratulations to Vanita Gupta on her appointment to lead the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division.

“Gupta is an exceptionally qualified attorney and a true champion of freedom, justice, and equality. Her record as an advocate for criminal justice reform and racial justice, demonstrates a willingness to take the judicial system to task to ensure that fairness is delivered under the law.
