Task Force Joins the International Imperial Court System’s 50th Anniversary Celebration



WASHINGTON, DC, October 28, 2015—The National LGBTQ Task Force joined the International Imperial Court System in celebrating the court’s 50th anniversary. The Court System, one of the nation’s oldest LGBTQ community service organizations, held its Golden Jubilee Gala State Dinner at the Sentinel Hotel in Portland, Oregon on October 23, 2015 to celebrate its anniversary.

“Since 1961, the International Imperial Court System has helped raise critical funds and support for the work to secure basic rights and protections for LGBTQ people: from helping organizing LGBTQ pride parades across the country, to working to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and pushing back on anti-LGBTQ campaigns. It is truly an honor to join the Imperial Court System in celebrating an impressive milestone,” said Russell Roybal, National LGBTQ Task Force Deputy Executive Director.

Event attendees also included Academy award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, Obergefell v Hodges plaintiff Jim Obergefell, Metropolitan Community Churches founder Reverend Troy Perry, NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt founder Cleve Jones, Executive Director of the International Imperial Court Nicole Murray Ramirez, California Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins, former San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, Harvey Milk Foundation founder Stuart Milk, and co-founders of the Matthew Shepard Foundation Judy & Dennis Shepard.
