Task Force Action Fund announces the election of Brad Carlson as new board secretary/treasurer
The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Action Fund today announced the election of Brad Carlson as secretary/treasurer of its board of directors. Carlson lives in Miami Beach, Fla.
The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Action Fund, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit corporation, builds the grassroots political power of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community through direct and grassroots lobbying to defeat anti-LGBT ballot initiatives and legislation, while working to pass pro-LGBT legislation and other progressive initiatives.
Carlson is a real estate developer, investment manager and activist with wide-ranging experience in business, philanthropy and the nonprofit sector. He is the managing director of CIC Group, a wealth management consultancy. Carlson has worked as a program officer for The New York Community Trust, the country’s third largest community foundation.
He served as board president of Stonewall Community Foundation, New York City’s LGBT public charity, and is a founding board member of Development in Gardening (“DIG”), a nonprofit organization that partners with vulnerable populations in developing nations to create sustainable community gardens.
Carlson holds a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, a B.S. in journalism and psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has been a member of the Task Force Action Fund’s board since May 2011.
“The Task Force Action Fund has been doing critical direct and grassroots lobbying to defeat anti-LGBT ballot initiatives and legislation throughout the years. It is exciting to be part of this effort at this important moment of our struggle,” said Carlson. “We are continuing to pass pro-LGBT legislation and other progressive initiatives that will create lasting change and opportunity for all.”
