Statement on Trump signing anti-Planned Parenthood measure

LATEST: April 13, 2017: Today Trump signed a measure that undermines the ability of 4 million patients to receive safe, affordable care from Title X Family Planning providers: “In his latest attack on our nation’s most vulnerable, Trump once again wields his pen like a sledge hammer that’s crushing our nation’s safety net systems. The low-income folks, communities of color, and LGBTQ folks who rely on Planned Parenthood will be more vulnerable to state legislatures’ illegal attempts to deny access to affordable sexual and reproductive healthcare — including contraceptives, pap smears, hormone therapy, and HIV and other STI testing. We stand with Planned Parenthood and other providers who will be affected by Trump’s actions,” Stacey Long Simmons, National LGBTQ Task Force.
