Statement on Passing of Civil Rights Leader Julian Bond



WASHINGTON, DC, August 16, 2015 — Civil rights leader and longtime Chair of the NAACP Julian Bond passed away yesterday. The National LGBTQ Task Force is making the following statement.

“Julian Bond fought his entire life for freedom, justice and equality for all. He was a great friend of LGBTQ people and spoke at the National LGBTQ Task Force’s Creating Change Conference in 2008 in Detroit. Professor Bond was someone who believed that it was always the right time for civil rights in our nation. We will miss him very much,” said Rea Carey, Executive Director, National LGBTQ Task Force.
