The National Transgender Discrimination Survey [NTDS] measured transgender people’s experiences of discrimination. The survey results showed that transgender people faced bias that affects all areas of life. However, one of the most important findings was that the combination of anti-transgender with structural and individual racism meant that transgender people of color experience particularly devastating levels of discrimination. Therefore, this document, Injustice at Every Turn: A Look at Black Respondents in the National Transgender Discrimination Survey, produced in collaboration with the National Black Justice Coalition and the National Center for Transgender Equality, is the first of a series of fact sheets designed to specifically shine a light on the experiences of transgender people of color.
