A black transgender man wearing a white clergy collar, black shirt, and black suit jacket holds a sign reading "My Faith Doesn't Discriminate." He is standing outdoors in the sun, wearing sunglasses. DALLAS, TX – Thousands of LGBTQ+ advocates, activists, leaders and allies are declaring that religious freedom means equal treatment for all during the 32nd Creating Change Conference in Dallas, TX.

Today, on National Religious Freedom Day, the conference is hosting a series of sessions focused on faith and LGBTQ equality, including a panel on religious liberty that features Rev. Mark Odhiambo Odieny, a gay Roman Catholic priest who received asylum in the U.S. in 2016 from Kenya.

The “Reclaiming Religious Liberty” panel will be live streamed via Faith in Public Life’s Facebook page, beginning at 9:15 a.m. Panelists will also highlight the 900 leaders from diverse faith traditions who have signed a national petition declaring that their faith does not discriminate and that religious freedom should not be misused by people who want to discriminate against our LGBTQ neighbors and those of minority faiths.

The Creating Change Conference, run by the National LGBTQ Task Force, is the foremost political, leadership, and skills-building conference for the LGBTQ social justice movement.
