Register Now for the 26th Annual National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change

Early bird registration is now open for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s 26th Annual National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change (“Creating Change”). More than 3,500 lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights advocates from across the country are expected to converge on Houston, Texas, on Jan. 29-Feb. 2, 2014 for the nation’s premier LGBTQ progressive conference.

“At a decisive time in the struggle for LGBT rights, activists from all over the country will convene to continue to mobilize and strategize at this year’s Creating Change Conference in Houston,” says Sue Hyde, Creating Change Conference director. “The movement for equality is making great strides, but there is much more left to do — from securing protections against discrimination to fighting alarming rates of HIV infection; from tackling anti-LGBT violence, to delivering racial and economic justice for all. We will continue to work harder than ever with local partners in communities across the country to secure full equality for all.”

This year’s Early Bird Registration Rate ($295) is now live and is available for all attendees registering before the October 31 deadline. A Presenter rate of $200 is offered for anyone who submits a Request for Proposal (RFP) by the September 30 deadline. A special complimentary rate of $0 is offered for those under 16 and those over 65. A Limited Income rate of $165 is also available for anyone for whom the cost of attendance may be prohibitive. Now in its 26th year, Creating Change has trained nearly 40,000 activists from all 50 states, US territories and outlying areas. Conference attendees represent all sectors and demographic groups in the LGBT movement.

For the cost of registration, attendees are granted admittance to their choice of the Wednesday, Jan 29 and Thursday, Jan 30 pre-conference daylong institutes, as well as access to the Welcome to Houston Reception on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 30. All registered attendees are also able to participate in all conference-related events and receptions held on site, including workshop sessions, presentations, and the four dynamic plenary sessions on Friday, Jan. 31, Saturday, Feb 1 and Sunday, Feb. 2. Attendees may also choose to engage in the Task Force’s Academy for Leadership and Action sessions, on Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday Feb. 1 in which our team of Task Force organizers offer sophisticated trainings and strategy sessions on a range of issues.

Creating Change also features hundreds of skills-building workshops, more than 18 additional daylong institutes, receptions, caucuses, film screenings, networking sessions, hospitality suites, interfaith services and much more.

The conference has grown from 300 people in its first year in 1988 to 3,500 attendees each year — and is projected to continue its growth in Houston.
