Rally for Citizenship today!
We’re rallying on Capitol Hill today to tell Congress that it’s time to fix our broken immigration system. There are nearly 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, including at least 267,000 who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, who are forced to live in hiding, spending every day fearful that they will be discovered, sent into detention, and separated from their families, possibly forever.
We believe that everyone should be free to live their lives openly as who they are, but the current immigration system only serves to punish. America needs humane and comprehensive immigration reform now.
The Task Force, as a member of a broad coalition of progressive organizations working together as the Alliance for Citizenship, is participating in a historic rally and lobby day today in Washington, D.C. Our executive director, Rea Carey, will be speaking to the thousands in attendance and it’s our chance to let Congress know that we demand common-sense immigration reform that leaves no one behind.
We hope you can join us at 2:30 p.m. by the Merry-Go-Round near the Smithsonian Castle on the National Mall so that LGBT supporters can march together to the Rally for Citizenship, which will be held on the West Lawn of the Capitol Building starting at 3 p.m.
When: Wednesday, April 10
Meet-Up Time: 2:30 PM
Meet-Up Location: Merry-Go-Round near the Smithsonian Castle on the National Mall, close to Smithsonian Metro Stop on Blue & Orange Lines
