Nipper: “Long way to go in making Kingâs dream a reality.”
WASHINGTON, DC, January 16, 2015 — Â To celebrate the birthday of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the National LGBTQ Task Force is issuing the following statement:
“One of the wonderful things about Dr. King is that his words and his legacy are as relevant and inspiring today to millions of people as they were 50 years ago. While we have made progress, clearly as we all witnessed with Ferguson, we have a long way to go to make his dream a reality. But, the sheer enthusiasm, resolve and imagination of todayâs growing movement for change shows that one day â hopefully in the not too distant future — ‘we shall overcome,'” Rev. Darlene Nipper, Deputy Executive Director, National LGBTQ Task Force.
