National LGBTQ Task Force: Charles Million and Tim Nardi to be Honored at National Gala

| By Kierra Johnson

Miami, FL, May 14, 2018: The National LGBTQ Task Force is pleased to announce that local South Florida heroes and community leaders Charles Million and Tim Nardi will receive the 2018 Eddy McIntyre Community Service Award at the Task Force Gala – Miami on Saturday, October 6, at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Charles Million and Tim Nardi are South Florida philanthropic powerhouses. They both have served on numerous leadership boards. They center their lives around lifting up others.

The annual fundraising event is a celebratory evening, featuring live entertainment, an impressive silent auction, and a fabulous afterparty, and is perhaps best known for honoring leaders for their outstanding contributions to securing basic rights and protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people.

“We are thrilled to be honoring Charles Million and Tim Nardi at this year’s Task Force Gala. They have made such an impact in the lives of so many South Floridians by supporting a number of important local causes, from the arts to LGBT efforts. Their leadership of the Gala alone significantly raised the bar year-after-year and has left an indelible mark for every committee that has followed. They are a generous and incredible couple and completely embody the spirit of the Eddy McIntyre Community Service Award,” said Josue Santiago, Chair of the 2018 Gala.

The award is named after Eddy McIntyre, a remarkable community leader, who stood out and stood up. He, along with Rosemary Wilder, envisioned an annual dinner to acknowledge and appreciate the service of some of the community’s leaders. Gala honorees who receive this award embody Eddy’s spirit and are in his company.

“I have had the privilege of working with Tim and Charles on many galas. They have shown a passion so extraordinary, it’s beyond any I have seen before. They relentlessly pursue the greatest outcome with determination, grace, and skill. Countless organizations have benefited from their efforts and generosity, but perhaps none more so than the National LGBTQ Task Force. It has been a joy for me to work with them as a colleague and as a friend,” said Liebe Gadinsky, Task Force Board Member and former Gala honoree.

On May 22, the Gala Host Committee presents its annual kickoff reception at No. 3 Social. Charles Million and Tim Nardi will officially accept the honor for the award that will be presented to them at the Gala. The event will take place at No. 3 Social, a fabulous rooftop venue in Wynwood. Guests can register at www.thetaskforce.org/galakickoff.

Proceeds from the National LGBTQ Task Force Gala—Miami and the Winter Party Festival support the Task Force’s work to secure full freedom, justice, and equality for LGBTQ people and their families. The Gala is presented by Wells Fargo. A significant portion of the proceeds also funds multiple organizations serving the LGBTQ community in South Florida.

The Gala Host Committee is currently seeking table captains and additional sponsors. For more information, please see http://thetaskforcegala.org/
