National LGBTQ Task Force Renames Miami Fundraising Gala

Event celebrates achievements of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) advocates and allies

MIAMI, FL, May 21, 2015—
The National LGBTQ Task Force has announced that the Miami Recognition Dinner’s name has been changed to the National LGBTQ Task Force Gala-Miami. Now in its 19th year, the gala along with Winter Party Festival support the work of the National LGBTQ Task Force and South Florida organizations working to secure full freedom, justice and equality for LGBTQ people and their families. The event is set to take place at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach on Saturday, October 24, 2015.

“We are thrilled to announce the new name of South Florida’s premier LGBTQ awards dinner: the National LGBTQ Task Force Gala-Miami,” said Rea Carey, National LGBTQ Task Force Executive Director. “Since 1997, the event along with Winter Party Festival have raised over a million dollars to fund organizations working in South Florida to advance basic rights for LGBTQ people.”

At this year’s awards gala, the National LGBTQ Task Force is honoring local community leader Juan Bosco Talavera for his more than 20 years of working to expand basic rights for LGBTQ people. Tickets are $450 and include an intimate cocktail reception, silent auction, sit-down dinner, awards ceremony, and dancing. This year’s event is presented by Wells Fargo and co-chaired by Charlie Million and Josue Santiago. Video highlights from last year’s gala are available here.
