National LGBTQ Task Force condemns police killing of 13-year-old Black boy

Washington, DC, September 16, 2016 — The National LGBTQ Task Force is condemning the killing of a 13-year-old Black boy by police in Columbus, Ohio.

“Yet another police killing of a young Black person. This painful spate of police-involved shootings appears to be never ending. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Tyre King. As we’ve said before, it’s time for radical reform of our criminal justice system: from one that thinks nothing of shooting black people to one that emphasizes non-violent solutions; from a system that routinely targets black people to one based on the principal that black lives really matter,” said Stacey Long Simmons, Director of Public Policy and Government Affairs, National LGBTQ Task Force.
