Miami to Host LGBTQ Organizing Summit

Intensive training seeks to empower local lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) leaders

MIAMI, FL, April 27, 2015 — The National LGBTQ Task Force has announced it will be hosting the Miami Power Summit, an intensive three-day organizing and skills-building training for LGBTQ activists and allies, on Friday, May 1, 2015. Organized in collaboration with SAVE and the Leadership LAB at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, the Miami Power Summit will take place at Unity on the Bay, 411 NE 21 Street, Miami, Florida 33137. Those interested in participating are encouraged to register online at thetaskforce.org/Miami-power-summit/.

“In Florida, LGBTQ people and their families still lack explicit legal protections against discrimination in the workplace, housing, and public accommodations. While we’ve made significant advances in basic rights for LGBTQ people, there is still more work to be done. That is why we’re proud to be hosting the Miami Power Summit—a one-of-a-kind intensive training for community leaders working to secure full freedom, justice, and equality for all,” said Russell Roybal, National LGBTQ Task Force Deputy Executive Director.
