Let’s end ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ now
Yesterday, Senator Lieberman told reporters that we have the 60 votes to beat a filibuster. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has promised to bring DADT back to the Senate for a vote during this session. This is our chance to right this wrong before the new, far more conservative Congress takes its seat in January.
Please call both of your senators right now and tell them to repeal DADT.
Call the Capitol switchboard at 202.224.3121 and tell them what state you live in. They’ll connect you to one of your senators.
Get them on the line and let them know:
1. That discharging patriotic lesbian, gay and bisexual service members is simply unjust.
2. That we must repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” once and for all.
3. And finally, tell them “Senator, I want you to stand up for all of our troops by voting for the defense authorization bill during the Senate’s lame-duck session.”
Two phone calls – that’s all. And it could make a world of difference to so many people.
We’re so close to ending the legal discharge of lesbian, gay, and bisexual servicemembers. We can change the lives of thousands of dedicated lesbian, gay and bisexual servicemembers – but we can ONLY do it with your help!
