Latinx Heritage Month Profile | JP Cano
From September 15th through October 15th the National LGBTQ Task Force is observing Latinx Heritage Month by celebrating Latinx individuals who are also LGBTQ—including our staff members, supporters, and board members.
We are kicking off Latinx Heritage Month profiles with someone very special, JP Cano!
JP Cano works for the Resource Center as the Prevention Services Manager, as well as an active member of the Dallas HIV Task Force. He has also been part of the planning committee for the Latinx Institute at Creating Change since 2013 and is on the Creating Change 2020 Host Committee!
Q: What motivates you to participate in these roles?
A: I enjoy advocating for our community. I like to think that “things will get better,” and therefore believe in taking action – rather than just waiting for things to happen. Passion, love, and respect for others all motivate me, too.
Q: What non-work activities do you enjoy?
A: I enjoy dancing, music in general, traveling, the gym, and nature. I’m a big “outdoors” guy.
Q: What excites you most about Dallas and Creating Change 2020?
A: I am so happy to see Creating Change happening in our community; in my backyard. I can’t wait to show all my friends what this life-changing experience is about.
