Join the fight against bullying

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are hosting the White House Conference on Bullying Prevention today in an effort to allow all of us to work together to make our schools safer for all students. You can participate by watching the conference online and asking questions in the “Facebook Live” event starting at 12:20 PM EST.

In conjunction with today’s conference, the administration announced the launch of a new online resource, stopbullying.gov to provide information from government agencies on how how kids, teens, young adults, parents,educators and others in the community can prevent or stop bullying. You can find additional helpful information about what you can do at glsen.org and thetrevorproject.org.

The administration is not acting alone, Congress working to further anti-bullying legislation and today, U.S. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) and U.S. Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.) will reintroduce the Student Non-Discrimination Act, which would help protect public school students from bullying, harassment, and discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
 Also today, Sen. Lautenberg (D-N.J.) and Rep. Holt (D-N.J.) are planning to reintroduce the Tyler Clementi Higher Education Anti-Harassment Act which which establishes similar anti-bullying requirements for colleges and universities receiving federal student aid as the Safe Schools Improvement Act which was reintroduced earlier this week.
