International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia is May 17



Tomorrow marks  the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO), featuring hundreds of events in more than 70 countries.

According to IDAHO:

This year’s IDAHO will break records of mobilisation and outreach, as an estimated 50 million people will be exposed to campaign messages in more than 70 countries, calling for an end to discrimination and violence against people on the grounds of sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

In addition to the day’s planned events, Lady Gaga will serve as acting editor in chief for all May 17 editions of the worldwide free daily paper METRO! in anticipation of the May 23 release of her new album, Born This Way. The global diva will be commenting on global issues as an expression of her visible commitment to human rights.
