Planned Giving: Include the Task Force in Your Estate Plans
The National LGBTQ Task Force has been hard at work for 50 years advancing LGBTQ+ civil rights and creating a world that is more fully free, equal, and just for all. Our fight is not over, and you can leave a legacy that lasts and advances queer liberation by including the Task Force in your estate plans. By including the Task Force in your estate plans, you are ensuring that the Task Force will be here to fight for freedom for the next 50 years and beyond.
Begin Your Legacy with Us
To help you get started on your plans and legacy, you can use FreeWill, an online tool that guides you through the process of creating your will or trust. It’s easy to use, accessible online and can be completed in 20 minutes. You can use this resource on its own or use it to document your wishes before finalizing your plans with an attorney.
Designate the Task Force as a Beneficiary for Non-Probate Assets
Do you have an IRA, 401(k), life-insurance policy, or any other assets not included in your will? If so, these are called non-probate assets, and you must plan your beneficiaries for them separately. Use this online tool to make your plans and designate us as a beneficiary of one or more of these assets.
Are We Already in Your Will? Let Us Know!
Have you already included a gift in your will or trust? Please fill out this form to let us know! We would love to thank you for your generosity.
Want to Add Us to Your Existing Will or Estate Plans?
If you already have a will and want to add a provision for the Task Force, here is some sample language you can use.
If you’re considering making a gift of a percentage of your estate to the National LGBTQ Task Force, we recommend using the following language:
I, [NAME], of [CITY, STATE ZIP], hereby give, devise, and bequeath to National LGBTQ Task Force, federal tax identification number 52-1624852, with the permanent address of 1050 Connecticut Avenue NW 65500, Washington, DC 20035, _____percent (____%) of my total estate, determined as of the date of my death for its unrestricted use and purpose.
If you’re considering making a residual gift to the National LGBTQ Task Force, we recommend using the following language:
I, [NAME], of [CITY, STATE ZIP], hereby give, devise, and bequeath to National LGBTQ Task Force, federal tax identification number 52-1624852, with the permanent address of 1050 Connecticut Avenue NW 65500, Washington, DC 20035, [ALL OR A PERCENTAGE] of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate to be used for its general use and purpose.
If you are considering making an outright gift to the National LGBTQ Task Force, we recommend the following language:
I, [NAME], of [CITY, STATE ZIP], hereby give, devise, and bequeath to National LGBTQ Task Force, federal tax identification number 52-1624852, with the permanent address of 1050 Connecticut Avenue NW 65500, Washington, DC 20035, the sum of $_______ for its unrestricted use and purpose.
If you’re considering making a contingent gift to the National LGBTQ Task Force, we recommend using the following language:
If [PRIMARY BENEFICIARY] does not survive me, then I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to National LGBTQ Task Force, federal tax identification number 52-1624852, with the permanent address of 1050 Connecticut Avenue NW 65500, Washington, DC 20035, [DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY] to be used for its general use and purpose.

Donate Stock
Donating stock to the National LGBTQ Task Force can be a good way to make a gift for several reasons:
- Tax Benefits: When you donate appreciated stock that you’ve held for more than a year, you can generally take a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock at the time of the donation, not just what you originally paid for it. This can be more advantageous than selling the stock and donating the cash, as you would have to pay capital gains tax on the appreciation.
- Avoiding Capital Gains Tax: By donating appreciated stock directly to the Task Force, you can avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation. This means more of your donation goes to supporting our work.
- Leveraging Your Donation: Because you can deduct the full market value of the stock, you can potentially donate more than if you sold the stock and donated the proceeds after paying taxes.
- Simplicity: Donating stock is generally a simple process, especially if you hold the stock in a brokerage account.
- Impact: Your donation can make a significant impact on the Task Force’s work.
Overall, donating stock can be a tax-efficient way to help the Task Force advance our mission and support our work. It’s always a good idea to consult with a tax advisor or financial planner to understand the specific tax implications for your situation.
Employer Matching Gifts
Double or even triple the impact of your donation by checking to see if your employer offers matching gifts for charitable donations.
