Federal Appeals Court Strikes Down Marriage Equality Bans in Wisconsin and Indiana



WASHINGTON, DC, Sept. 4, 2014 — The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit has struck down marriage equality bans in Wisconsin and Indiana. In response, the National Gay and Lesbian Task has released the following statement:

“We are thrilled to hear that progress towards full equality continues to move forward. The federal court’s decision striking down marriage equality bans in Wisconsin and Indiana brings us a step closer to ensuring that same-sex couples across the nation have access to the fundamental right to marry.

“We welcome this victory and look forward to the day when marriage equality will finally be the law of the entire land.”
