The National LGBTQ Task Force’s Creating Change Conference is the largest and most diverse annual gathering of its kind. Creating Change attracts as many as 3,500 LGBTQ leaders, activists, and supporters from our movement and from the worlds of business, non-profit and government. Over the four-day virtual event, the Conference will feature dozens of workshops, caucus sessions and several large plenaries, where movement leaders share their insights about our progress and what needs to be done to achieve full liberation. Creating Change is where the future of our movement is cultivated. For more than 30 years, Creating Change has taught thousands of people how to make change: public officials and advocates, youth and elders, and professionals in all fields.
All plenary sessions will be interpreted in both ASL (American Sign Language) and Spanish, and all sessions will be closed captioned. Individual workshop and caucus sessions will be interpreted in ASL and/or Spanish if participants request interpretation for them in advance. We also offer mobility scooters, assistive reading and listening devices, large print and screen-reader friendly materials, and other items as requested. We also offer meal assistance. All of this is free of charge.
The short answer is: everybody! The Creating Change Conference is truly one of the most diverse gatherings of its kind. People of every age attend the conference; whether you’re 15, 47 or 92, Creating Change is for you! For our in-person conference, we even offer free childcare for the youngest “attendees” and programming for kids ages 8 to 13. Nearly a thousand college students attend each year, and half of participants are under the age of 30. Creating Change is also racially diverse, with over 50% of attendees identifying as people of color. It's also diverse in terms of gender identity and expression, with over a third of attendees identifying as trans or gender-conforming. People of all socioeconomic and religious backgrounds, people with disabilities, Deaf people, and people of all sexual orientations and gender identities from every part of the United States attend, including our straight allies!
Our sessions cover a broad range of topics, including political advocacy and organizing, community and identity, faith and spirituality, sex and self-care, and so much more! We offer caucus sessions for over a dozen different communities and identities. Our plenary sessions will deliver rousing keynotes and performances from movement leaders and celebrities!
You bet! We are planning our popular Agents of Change Ball and our flirty Opening Cruise, along with game nights, an open mic event, art classes and much more!
