Celebrating Pride and the anniversary of New York marriage equality law

One year ago today, Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed New York’s marriage equality bill into law, making New York the sixth state in the nation with the freedom to marry. As we celebrate LGBT Pride month across the nation today, our hope is that the victories over the last year will give us renewed strength to push for full LGBT equality. At Pride events this year, the Task Force is encouraging people to Queer the Vote so that we keep moving toward full equality for everyone, instead of moving backwards to the discriminatory policies that we lived with until recently. You can pledge to vote and educate your family, friends and co-workers about important issues on the line in this election year at QueertheVote.org.
