Washington, D.C. – Today, Wednesday, March 13 at 3:30 p.m. ET, national religious leaders will hold a national media conference call urging Congress to pass the Equality Act. The Equality Act would provide consistent and explicit non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people across key areas of life, including employment, housing, credit, education, public spaces and services, federally funded programs, and jury service. Millions of people of faith throughout the country support non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people. They believe in the sacred dignity and worth of LGBTQ people, that we should treat our LGBTQ neighbors as ourselves, and that all people should be able to live free from discrimination. They believe it is possible to both protect LGBTQ people from discrimination and uphold the freedom of religion. On the media call, religious leaders and people of faith from across traditions will gather for a moment of prayer and to call on Congress to pass the Equality Act.
