2010 Ascension Weekend ‘biggest and best ever’
This past weekend, the fifth anniversary of Ascension weekend exploded in the Fire Island Pines. It was the biggest and best ever, and featured the debut of the Ascension Tea Dance on Saturday night, which attracted nearly 2,500 people.
With sunset as the backdrop on a custom-made floating dance floor in the Great South Bay, guests were entertained by dueling DJs Twisted Dee and Phil B., a special live performance by Erika Jayne and a closing Fireworks Spectacular courtesy of Grucci.
The main event of the weekend, Ascension Beach Party, opened to a very early audience with DJs Roland Belmares, followed by the legendary UK’s Freemasons. The beach played host to more than 4,000 partygoers who danced until the extended close of 7 p.m., given as a “thank-you” anniversary gift!
Other events throughout the weekend included the VIP Launch Party at Task Force board member Eric von Kuersteiner’s home in the Pines, with an exclusive live performance by Countess LuAnn de Lesseps of the Real Housewives of New York, Float Pool Party with DJs Lina and Miami’s Charlmix, and a performance by comedian Leslie Jordan, of NBC’s Will & Grace fame.
The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and Winter Party Festival is a beneficiary and promotional partner of Ascension Beach Party Weekend.
