Working with partners in Hawaii to secure transgender rights
We delivered your messages to protect Social Security

Findings from our recent report, Injustice at Every Turn, were recently cited in a report on LGBT health issues released by the Institute of Medicine — an independent organization that provides unbiased advice to the public and government decision makers.

Barbara Kroll & Ruth Spielman have been Task Force donors since 1985, and they just told us that the Task Force is in their will! They did it because, in their words, "We are thinking of future generations of LGBT folk." They also added that they're pleased to help the Task Force continue to make the world a better place. We love Barbara & Ruth, and we're honored to have the support of two such amazing women.

14 Years Ago: April 1997
The Task Force endorsed the National March for Jobs, Justice, and People's Needs, held on April 27 in Philadelphia. The march asked the Clinton administration and Congress to strengthen social programs and the federal safety net. Then-Task Force Executive Director Kerry Lobel said: "We must stand up against this abandonment of the basic principles of fairness and compassion."

Members of Congress will be home April 18–29, so that's a perfect time to talk to them about the issues you care about. Several bills are under consideration related to LGBT rights, including the Respect for Marriage Act (DOMA repeal) and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. So call the district office of your senators and representative to schedule an appointment and bring your priorities to their attention now!
Traveling? Collect your own miles while helping the Task Force! When making a reservation on AA.com/rainbow or with a travel agent, give them our Business ExtrAA account number, 527583, and earn valuable points for the Task Force. Plus, you'll still earn your own miles.

Julie Childs
Executive Assistant to the Executive Director

Julie majored in sociology with a concentration in juvenile delinquency, so she's always been interested in the inner workings of our penal system — or, as she puts it, "our very broken penal system." She was thrilled to recently discover a book about life after prison. More ›

David Alexander
Director of Institutional Gifts
David loves to run and he loves Joni Mitchell. Unfortunately he says her Ladies of the Canyon just doesn't motivate him enough to finish those long runs. (What's a Joni-Mitchell-loving boy to do?) Don't worry, David solved his dilemma, and you can find out how. More ›
