Showtime Networks (a Task Force national partner) has been portraying positive LGBT lives and characters for years now. George DeBolt, Showtime's senior vice president of media, promotions and partnership marketing, has been key to this through his work marketing Showtime's LGBT content, including Queer As Folk and The L Word among others. On top of that, George also makes generous gifts to the Task Force. So, for everything he does for all of us, we love George!

8 Years Ago: February 2003
The Task Force is the oldest national LGBT rights organization, so it's no surprise that on this date we celebrated our then-30 years of grassroots activism. During those three decades we defeated anti-LGBT ballot measures across the nation, trained thousands of local activists and were instrumental in both drafting and passing nondiscrimination laws on state and local levels. Today, we're still continuing to create change on our way to full LGBT equality!

We launched a campaign at Creating Change to stop Congress from cutting Social Security benefits. Hundreds of LGBT rights activists signed postcards declaring "Hands Off Social Security," which we're going to deliver to Senate offices in Washington, D.C. That same night people around the country signed an online petition telling Congress the same thing. The fact is that as we age, LGBT people are more reliant on guaranteed Social Security benefits. Don't worry, it's not too late for you to get involved. We're continuing to collect online signatures — let your voice be heard here!

Anabel Evora
Major Gifts Officer

Anabel has loved reading since she was a little girl. And even back then she came to the opinion that reading is a "way into one's soul," and she doesn't know where she'd be if it wasn't for all the books she's read over the years. Want to know what she considers some of her favorites? More ›

Pedro Julio Serrano
