New Year = Revamped Task Force Web site!

The Task Force officially launched our new and improved Web site on Jan. 5. The revamped site features a cleaner look, more visuals and an array of helpful new features and updated information.

The online Activist Center, for example, connects visitors to activist opportunities in communities near them and includes an ever-expanding collection of downloadable how-to guides. The Reports & Research section has been fully redesigned, making it fast and easy to locate resources by type, subject or language. The new blog, OutSpoken, located on the homepage and in the Activist Center, spotlights commentary from a rotating roster of contributors. And when you click on an issue that interests you, you’ll get the latest on what the Task Force is doing about it — including relevant Policy Institute reports — as well as what you can do.

Let the people vote! Not.

“Even some people who support marriage equality think it’s a good thing to have a popular vote... I disagree.” — From Matt Foreman’s Jan. 5 OutSpoken blog entry.

In the states: Task Force events in Florida, New York and Washington

It’s a busy winter season for Task Force events:

On Jan. 16 in New York City, we’ll hold our kickoff event for the New York Leadership Awards. Come to the kickoff and meet featured guest Mike Jones, the man who exposed the hypocrisy of Rev. Ted Haggard! Get details about our kickoff event and the 2007 New York Leadership Awards. Then, on Jan. 27, we’re holding our inaugural Seattle Leadership Awards, honoring our very own Marsha Botzer. Join us for this terrific Pacific Northwest event. Get tickets and information here.

The Task Force is seeking a few hundred dedicated volunteers for the 2007 Winter Party FestivalSM, taking place from Feb. 28 through March 5 in and around Miami. Volunteers are needed to assist in all aspects of this six-day celebration by serving as greeters and bartenders, staffing the Welcome Center, working behind the scenes at sporting and fashion events, monitoring the shuttle buses and more. This year the volunteer application process has been completely automated. Interested parties can log onto, click on the “Volunteer” link, and complete and submit the volunteer registration form. Anyone interested in assisting with additional pre-festival work should contact James Nonnemaker, volunteer chair, by phone (305.722.1460 or 888.828.0077) or via e-mail at
