Staff Bio: Janice Thom



Janice Thom is the Director of Operations and the Business Manager for Creating Change Conference at the National LGBTQ Task Force. Janice works in social justice because she wants to promote people’s freedom to be themselves. She also wants to spread social justice information in order to promote the success of democracy. Janice believes all people should be free and feel relaxed and respected in their own skin. Janice earned a Masters of Science in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts, Literature and Composition at State University of NY at Binghamton. Before working at the Task Force, Janice worked as the Director of Prospect Research at the American Foundation for AIDS Research, she was also a librarian for a short time. Janice’s background in advocacy comes from working at New York Pride for 20 years and she was the president of Interpride. Janice has held many jobs at the Task Force andis currently the Director of Operations and the Business Manager for Creating Change. She manages the budget and spending for Creating Change, creates tools and procedures for the event, is the primary contact for speakers and guests, among many other responsibilities. Janice is based in New York.
