Task Force: Malaysian Airlines disaster and 20th International AIDS Conference

"Out of heartbreak…the possibility of a world free from HIV/AIDS"

WASHINGTON, DC, July 22 —"Our thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives in the Malaysian Airlines disaster. We stand with the friends, colleagues and loved ones of those that were on board flight MH17 heading to the International AIDS Conference taking place this week in Melbourne, Australia.

"There are many broken hearts and broken spirits at this year’s conference. However, there can be no more fitting tribute to those who lost their lives in this terrible tragedy than a redoubled effort to end any stigma associated with HIV/AIDS and to make breakthroughs in the development of a vaccine, new therapies, and a cure. It is our sincere hope that out of this heartbreak we will realize the possibility of a world free from HIV/AIDS."
