Ezra Towne
Membership Manager
Ezra Towne joined the Task Force as membership manager in September 2004. She brings with her a wealth of education, work and activist experience in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. She has five years of experience in membership development with progressive non-profit organizations. Most recently, she worked for the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund as Direct Marketing and Membership Manager. She also worked for the National Organization for Women (NOW) as development planner.
Prior to moving to the Washington, D.C., metro area, Towne served on the steering committee for Jersey Pride, Inc., as a board member and women's rap group facilitator at the Gay Activist Alliance in Morris County, N.J., and as an active member of both the Take Back the Night committee and Free Spirit at Bloomsburg University, where she was instrumental in establishing a "safe-zone" program.
She earned a master's in philosophy from the PIC Program at SUNY Binghamton in 2001, where she specialized in the history, politics and literature of queer theory, feminism, critical race theory, popular education and movements of resistance to oppression. She received her bachelor's in philosophy from Bloomsburg University in 1997, with a dual minor in psychology and women's studies.
