Public Policy & Government Affairs
The Task Force has a rich history [0] when it comes to advancing the concerns of our community. Our Public Policy & Government Affairs team , for example, is fighting hard for new money, comprehensive anti-discrimination laws and equal protections, benefits and opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Americans.
Our federal advocacy includes fighting for hate crimes protections, employment and other nondiscrimination protections and equal benefits and regulatory treatment for LGBT people, couples and families.
Knowledge, expertise and political savvy
Public Policy & Government Affairs raises our community’s voice in Washington to win:
- A fair share of our tax dollars.
- Government resources to meet our community’s pressing health and human service needs.
- Federal legislation to achieve hate crimes protections, employment and other nondiscrimination protections and equal benefits and regulatory treatment for LGBT people, couples and families.

Government Resources Project

Legislative Lawyering Project [0]
Assistance to activists, organizations, policymakers and political leaders with their efforts to pass pro-LGBT measures and defeat anti-LGBT proposals.
Transgender Civil Rights Project [0]
Legislative and strategy assistance for activists and organizations working to pass trans-inclusive anti-discrimination ordinances or include transgender people in existing laws.
LGBT Aging Initiative
[0]Policy advocacy at the local, state and federal levels and with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to ensure the needs of the LGBT community’s aging population are not ignored.
National Religious Leadership Roundtable
[0]Interfaith leaders from pro-LGBT faith, spiritual and religious organizations.
Institute for Welcoming Resources
[0]Provides new resources, training and strategies to increase the number of people of faith who support equality for LGBT people.
