Boosting the Capacity of Statewide Organizations
Our Movement Building team runs Creating Change [0], the nation’s premier lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) conference.
We’re also building the grassroots political power and infrastructure of state-level LGBT organizations across the country by helping them to build their organizational capacity. We’ve formed intensive multi-year partnerships to increase their effectiveness and sustainability.
Never before in the LGBT movement has capacity building been attempted on such a comprehensive, intensive, long-term basis for the purposes of building progressive political power on the state-wide level.
What we do:
- Identify each group’s core organizational challenges.
- Develop an ambitious but doable multi-year plan.
- Offer services and interventions for organizations at every stage.
- Create models that can be replicated all across the country.
- Support the development of progressive coalitions on the statewide level.

- Staffing structure
- Fund raising
- Building a base of supporters
- Building sustainable and diverse coalitions
- Executive director coaching
- Leveraging progressive political power in states
