Eric von Kuersteiner attended Boston College, Carroll School of Management in Newton, Mass., and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in May 1985 and a Master of Science and Finance in May 1991. Throughout the 1990s, Eric sold and developed real estate in Boston and New York while working as vice president for Sotheby’s International Real Estate and Corcoran Real Estate. In 2003, he purchased approximately 80 percent of the commercial district in Fire Island Pines, N.Y. As president and chief operating officer of Pines Commercial Properties LLC, he controls its subsidiaries and owns Blue Whale Restaurant, Bay Bar Cafe, Hotel Ciel, Bamboo Florist, Index Lifestyle Store and Pavilion Nightclub. In addition, through his company Pines Promotions LLC, he produces various other events in the Pines, including Ascension Beach Party, whose proceeds benefit the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.
